Unibet’s stand-alone online poker offering in collaboration with Relax Gaming is set to launch within the week, according to company sources.
Our readers will recall that late last year Unibet announced that it would depart the Microgaming poker network to develop a stand-alone product in partnership with Relax Gaming of Estonia, an arrangement that would better suit Unibet’s strategic plans.
The Relax-Unibet relationship had grown over the preceding seven months, and the deal saw the Swedish gambling group invest $1.25 million in Relax, which has its own fast-fold poker product, Fast Poker.
The imminent launch is on schedule and within budget, and will complement Unibet operations in Italy and France, where it partners on poker respectively with Ongame and iPoker.
Microgaming’s Quickfire games are expected to remain a feature of Unibet online casino operations
Unibet online gambling head Daniel Eskola is on record as saying the company’s focus is on the casual player; he has revealed that the new poker offering will include 3D ambience and pronounced social elements, and that the platform will support desktop and Mac browsers, along with both Android and iOS mobile apps. The company’s Maria brand will also work on the new poker platform.
