The high stakes online poker losses of Danish poker Pro Gus “The Great Dame” Hansen had already reached legendary proportions before this week, but another disastrous period at the tables has now pushed the red ink to around $17 million, and in a recent interview Hansen indicated he may need to take a break to regroup.
The High States Data Base reports that the Danish pro, who took a $148,181 hit the week before, lost a staggering $1,050,621 this week on the Full Tilt Poker nosebleed tables against several top players.
He wasn’t alone in feeling the pain; Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom had another of his epic downswings and ended the week $504,024 in the red despite playing 4,903 hands.
In more positive news, Dan “Jungleman” Cates, who took a million-dollar shellacking the previous week, emerged this week $521,682 in credit after playing just over 2,600 hands.
Norway’s Ola “no_Ola” Amundsgard was up near the top of the leaderboard with $544,148 in weekly earnings from 1,569 hands, and Alexander “PostflopAction” Kostritsyn was up $366,552 over 582 hands.
