Grosvenor Casinos in the UK wound up its sixth Goliath Poker series this week with a GBP 120 buy-in main event that pulled in 5,232 entries (a thousand up on the same event last year) to create a prize pool worth GBP 523,200
London IT consultant and player Vamshi Vandanapu took home the honours and a prize worth GBP 62,750 following a three-way deal at the final table
The chop Sunday night saw Vandanapu, 44-year-old Irishman Robbie Richwood and Cristian Popescu (33) from Romania agree a chop guaranteeing each GBP 50,000, with GBP 12,750 left on the table for the eventual winner.
Shortly thereafter Popescu exited at third, leaving Vandanapu and Richwood in the heads up, where the former managed to gain the upper hand and victory.
The other final table cashes looked like this:
William Campbell – GBP 27,000
Tom Powell – GBP 18,850
Graeme Evans – GBP 13,400
Luke Winsley – GBP 10,450
Craig Drew – GBP 8,600
Jonathan Mellor – GBP 7,400
