The Microgaming Poker Network (MPN) is prepping the release of a new poker client scheduled for launch towards the end of next month.
The new poker client, built from the ground up, using modern technology, replaces two existing clients for Windows and MAC, and a web client for desktop and mobile browsers.
MPN’s new download client has been pared back and simplified, keeping features such as loyalty, bonus and achievements and dispensing of unused features such as 5 Card Stud, the mini view table and, perhaps controversially, the chat feature.
This first release of the sleeker, less cumbersome client will measure performance and user sentiment and then implement feedback received from a built in system in which players can deliver their comments and opinions.
The new client has undergone rigorous player and focus group development in which changes have already been made based on their feedback such as making casino games less prominent, adjusting the design and layout of various UI elements, and introducing a new and improved hand history replayer.
In addition, MPN has significantly increased the size of their development team which it says will lead to new features being delivered more quickly and with higher quality than ever before.
“In a nod to our history, we’re calling the new client ‘Prima’,” Alex Scott, Head of Product (Network Games) at Microgaming, writes. “Meaning ‘first’ in Italian, the name represents our ambition to reclaim our position at the very top of the industry.”
Customers will be able to play on both the Prima client and the old download client during the transition but will be automatically upgraded to the Prima client later in the year.
