Another big poker win for Silverman.

By RP, August 28, 2013

Poker pro Steven Silverman’s bank account is bulging this week following his $891,660 victory in the inaugural $100,000 buy-in World Poker Tour Alpha8 tourney…just three months after he took home Euro 775,400 after winning the 2013 Pokerstars European Poker Tour Grand Final in Monte Carlo (see previous reports).

The buy-in for Alpha8, held at the Seminole Hard Rock casino, was too high to attract a big field, and just 18 players registered for the event, with three – Daniel Alaei, Daniel Perper and Isaac Haxton busting and re-entering to bring total entries to 21, generating a prize pool of $2,026,500.

After two days Matt Glanz headed a final table of Jason Mercier, Isaac Haxton, Bill Perkins, Daniel Alaei, Joseph Cheong, Jeff Gross, JC Tran and Silverman.

Down to the heads up it was Silverman vs. the highly experienced JC Tran, who is also a chip-leading finalist in this year’s World Series of Poker final table.

Given Silverman’s lead, the final phase of the game did not last beyond a few hands, leaving Silverman with the main prize and Tran claiming a second prize worth $526,890.

Other pay-outs included Jeff Gross at third for $364,770, and Matt Glantz at fourth for $243,180.
