Party Gaming’s World Poker Tour is returning to France for one of its premier annual European tour stops, the WPT Grand Prix de Paris.
After a four year absence following legal hassles in the past (see previous reports), this major tournament will again be hosted at the prestigious Aviation Club de France between May 8 -13, 2010, with a Euro 10 000 buy-in main event on which television coverage is planned.
“The Aviation Club de France is delighted to welcome back a WPT event in Paris,” said Bruno Fitoussi, poker consultant for Aviation Club de France. “The WPT Grand Prix de Paris is guaranteed to be a high-class tournament in the highlights of the international poker scene and will, for sure, attract players from all around the world.”
Home of arguably the best cash games in Europe, the world famous Aviation Club de France is located in the heart of Paris on the Champs-Elysées. The club was created in 1907 by a group of pioneer aviators whose achievements conjure up the most remarkable milestones in aviation history.
Land-based satellites for the WPT Grand Prix de Paris main event will begin at Aviation Club de France on May 1. Schedules and additional details will be available soon at Aviation Club de France.com and at World Poker Tour.com.
The last WPT tourney in Paris took place in 2006, attracting a field of over 230 players and crfeating a Euro 2.2 million prizepool. The main prize of Euro 712 500 was won by Danish player Christian Grundtvig (see previous report) but was not televised following legal wrangles with French authorities.
