888Poker is hoping to boost its online recreational player numbers in New Jersey through a new partnership with World Tavern Poker, an organisation that runs tournaments at restaurants, bars, bowling alleys and VFW halls.
There are over 150,000 WTP members across the United States, and businesses contract with the organisation to attract extra custom by offering free-to-play live poker tournament action, usually on midweek “slow” nights.
WTP members in general do not play with real money to ensure the legality of the activity….but they can earn appealing prizes like seats in major live poker tournaments.
The tournaments attract the sort of recreational player that 888Poker would like to see joining its New Jersey licensed online poker sites.
Figures on how many specifically New Jersey players 888Poker might harvest from the initiative are not yet available, but the company believes the potential is there, making its New Jersey-focused effort worthwhile.
888Poker marketers have reportedly designed a promotional program geared for the initiative that includes the award of free WTP chips to players who sign up at the company’s online real-money and licensed online poker site, along with prizes of seats/buy-ins at real-money online tournaments.
The WTP-888Poker partnership will run “Jersey’s Real Deal” league events on Fridays this (December) month in which the winner will receive a $3,500 VIP package to the World Tavern Poker Open next November in Las Vegas.
