US poker pro Alex Foxen enjoyed a dream poker victory this week in the $25,000 buy-in L.A. Poker Classic Rockstar Energy High Roller, sweeping away some deeply talented opposition at the final table and heads up stages to claim the main prize of $424,625.
Entering the final day as chip leader, Foxen maintained and enhanced his lead into a stellar final table and then personally eliminated all but one of the remaining players.
The event attracted 50 entries.
Foxen ploughed through the field, rarely putting a foot wrong and playing with skill and disciplined aggression. At the end of last year he displayed similar qualities in securing a $1.1 million second placing in the World Poker Tour Five Diamond main event.
When veteran tournament ace Mario Ho was busted out by Foxen at third for $188,875 it set the stage for a Nick Petrangelo – Foxen heads up, with the latter holding a dominating 7 to 1 chip lead that Petrangelo simply could not overcome despite a determined effort. He was rewarded $283,250 in runner-up prize money.
Other final table cashes included:
Sam Panzica $131,000
Eli Berg $94,625
Isaac Baron $71,325
