The inaugural Pokerstars UKIPT tournament on the Isle of Man, headquarters for the online poker company, has been won by middle-aged Corby bricklayer Duncan McLellan, who over 5 days showed a star studded field of 378 that included Daniel Negreanu, David Williams, Vanessa Rousso and Jason Mercier how it’s done.
McLellan qualified in a Pokerstars satellite, making his prize of GBP 94,090 all the sweeter. He faced a final table that included Fatima Moreira, Richard Milne, Christopher Jonat, Harry Lodge, Daniel Stacey, Janie O’Conner and Adam Topping, surviving after around five hours to engage in a short heads up confrontation with Moreira.
Moreira’s runner up prize was GBP 59,660, whilst McLellan said his win would enable him to play more European live tournaments and take his grandson on a trip to Disneyland.
