The China Daily newspaper carried an illustrated story this week on the invention of a new game combining the popularity of mahjong and poker.
Poker Mahjong is the patented brainchild of a Chinese advertising designer in the Chongqing municipality in Southwest China, who wanted to be able to carry around mahjong tiles so that he could play the game anytime and anywhere.
His solution was to put mahjong symbols and patterns on poker cards, a concept he has patented, and which has already resulted in an offer of $72,500 from an unnamed interested party.
