In an unusual heads up confrontation this week Argentine poker pro Ivan Luca (23) faced his girlfriend Maria Lampropoulos in the closing stages of the Euro 1,100 buy-in Eureka Poker Tour Rozvadov main event, with International Women’s Day providing plenty of support for the female element.
Luca started the heads up with a small chip lead, but it turned into a tough 90-minute scrap as Lampropoulos fought back and on two occasions took the lead before Luca could build up sufficient steam to dominate the game and eliminate his nearest and dearest.
A chop at the start of the heads up meant that Lampropoulos’s runner up prize was worth Euro 95,404, whilst Luca took home Euro 106,186.
The event attracted an international field of 682 players at King’s Casino in Rozvadov, with seven nationalities represented around the final table.
Final table action saw a rousing start with five eliminations within the first hour, but play settled down, and it took the best part of another five gruelling hours to reach the heads up stage following the departure of Slovakia’s David Urban in third place for Euro 54,800.
Other final table cahses included:
Peter Siemund Germany Euro 41,500
Stoyan Stefanov Bulgaria Euro 33,100
Mick Heder Denmark Euro 25,340
Robert Kokoska Czech Republic Euro 18,330
Hannes Speiser Austria Euro 12,500
