Reports are surfacing that last weekend the French online poker provider Winamax saw its tournament activities severely disrupted by a DDoS attack from presently undisclosed hackers.
The attack follows similar experiences in recent months that have seen leading online poker providers targeted (see previous InfoPowa reports).
In an apology to players, Winamax management assured that the assault has impacted only a small number of accounts, but in order to ensure the integrity of its offering it felt obliged to interrupt tournaments.
“In order to keep proceedings fair, and in order for the disconnected players to not be put in an unfavourable position compared to the players who can continue playing, Winamax voluntarily interrupted all tournaments,” the advisory revealed.
The company of course took the opportunity to assure players that Winamax services and security technology remains high, and that player funds in accounts are safe
Players adversely impacted by the interrupted tournament schedule will be reimbursed in compliance with the company’s terms and conditions.
