It’s starting to look as if this year’s World Series of Poker Main Event will be the most popular in years; total entries from only the first two starting flights stands at 2,959 after Day 1 B official figures were released, showing that 2,164 entries – the highest in the last six years – had been received.
By early Monday morning local time there were around 1,700 Day 1 B survivors left bagging their chips, with Richard Dubini holding the lead on 254,000 after a day that saw US poker ace Vanessa Selbst spectacularly eliminated by French star Gaelle Baumann.
She wasn’t the only big name heading to the exit on the second entry flight; others included 2012 WSOP champion Greg Merson, Abe Mosseri and Justin Bonomo.
