Brit poker pro Niall Farrell boosted his bank account balance by $335,000 this week after besting a field of 323 in the 2016 Partypoker World Poker Tour Caribbean main event, hosted by the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana.
Farrell’s prospects at the start of the six-player final table did not look that good; he was down in the low stacks but started to make progress around the seventeenth hand through a good double up, and that appeared to give him the momentum to ascend through the remaining final table field.
By the sixty-fourth hand there were just three players left: Farrell, Troy Quenneville and Anthony Augustino. They played on for a further ten hands before Augustino was eliminated by Farrell at third for $140,000, setting the heads up with Farrell holding a massive 83 blind lead, which he quickly leveraged to send Quenneville home with a second placing prize of $220,000.
Other final table cashes included:
Colin Moffatt $105,392
Yiannis Liperis $80,000
Stephen Woodhead $66,000
