Perhaps feeling the pressure from other tournament poker operators who have been boosting the guarantees on their products (see recent reports), the World Series of Poker Europe has announced that host Kings Casino has added a million Euros to the guaranteed prize pool for this year’s Euro 10,350 buy-in Main Event.
That brings the prize pool to Euro 5 million, ensuring a Euro 1 million pay day for the winner.
Last year the WSOPE tournament, held in partnership with Kings Casino in Rozvadov, Czech Republic, attracted 250,000 entries, and the bigger guaranteed prize pool will help in surpassing this number in the 2017 festival, which kicks off October 19 and features 11 bracelet competitions.
The Kings Casino decision to up its investment in this year’s Main Event was also possibly prompted by reports that early entries are already being received.
Charity will also benefit again this year, with reports that over 90 entries have already been received for the Euro 111,111 buy-in One Drop High Roller. The event, which is capped at 111 players, benefits clean water projects in developing nations, and has already reported commitments from major international poker pros like Phil Hellmuth, Fedor Holz, Patrik Antonius, Gus Hansen, Antonio Esfandiari, Tony G, and Liv Boeree.
