After years of discussion among several European Union online poker regulators it appears an agreement on the key element of cross-border player pool sharing is imminent.
According to French regulator ARJEL in an announcement Friday, regulators from France, Italy, Portugal and Spain are now ready to sign such an agreement, probably on July 6 in Rome.
ARJEL claims the agreement would “set the basis for cooperation between the signing authorities in this context and will be followed by further necessary steps within each of the jurisdictions involved in order to effectively allow for liquidity poker tables”.
Details are not yet available on how the agreement will impact issues such as taxation arrangements and levels, timeframes and regulatory responsibility.
