The Grosvenor United Kingdom Poker Tour (GUKPT) Grand Final came to an exciting conclusion in London this week, culminating in a tense heads up between Brit pro Kevin Allen and South African challenger Rudolf Fourie.
294 players competed in the GBP 2,000 Grand Final main event, held this year at London’s Vic Casino.
On the final day Allen was the low-stack man among the 13 survivors, but through dint of several notable double ups he overtook most of his opponents and settled in among the top stacks on a final table that comprised: Rudolf Fourie, Matt Davenport, Ben Jackson, Scott Margerson, Richard Kellett, Thomas Bichon, Will Kassouf and Pratik Ghatge.
Despite entering the heads up against Fourie with the advantage, it took Allen another two hours to get rid of the South African and send him on his long journey home with the second placing prize of GBP 105,800.
Allen took the trophy and the GBP 159,700 main prize.
