The respected American poker professional Oliver Busquet has emerged victorious in the Euro 50,000 buy-in Super High Roller event in the one hundredth European Poker Tour leg in Barcelona.
The entry field of 77 passed the previous event record of 64, and was distilled to a final table that seated Busquet and Daniel Colman of Big One for One Drop fame, Vladimir Troyanovskiy, Scott Seiver, Sam Trickett, Sven Reichardt, Morten Klein and hedge fund manager Dan Shak.
The hard-fought heads up saw Busquet pitted against the formidable and poker-faced Dan Colman, recently in the headlines following his multi-million dollar cash in the Big One for One Drop tourney at the World Series of Poker.
In the final stages of a tough and competitive battle, the duo agreed a chop that gave the winner Euro 896,434 and the runner up Euro 843,066. When play resumed after the negotiation, it was Busquet who took the honours and the main prize, boosting his career earnings to almost $6 million.
Other final table pay-outs looked like this:
Vladimir Troyanovskiy Euro 473,200
Scott Seiver Euro 364,200
Sam Trickett Euro 288,400
Sven Reichardt Euro 225,500
Morten Klein Euro 177,500
Dan Shak Euro 138,600
