Hopes that California Assemblyman Adam Gray’s AB2863 online poker legalisation bill would be considered by the Assembly on Thursday after it was pulled from the agenda at the beginning of this week (see previous report) were dashed when Gray again failed to present the measure, citing a lack of support and continuing negotiations on the “bad actor” obstacle to consensus.
Chris Grove of Online Poker Report tweeted Thursday: “Just heard that Gray will now not bring AB 2863 for a vote today, still alive for another day. Seems like support isn’t there.”
With the legislature scheduled to adjourn at the end of the month, time is now a critical element in whether the bill can make it through the Assembly and the Senate in the face of continued and mainly tribal disagreement on bad actor provisions.
