California professional poker player Pat Lyons has scored the biggest win of his career to date in the World Poker Tour Legends of Poker tournament, taking home $615,346 after besting a tough field at the Bicycle Hotel & Casino in the Los Angeles.
The win comes following a $241,700 win for the pro in August this year when he triumphed in the Arizona State Poker Championship.
Lyons entered final table action with the second biggest chip stack, but soon overtook the leader and managed to stay among the top chip stacks for the rest of the action.
His skill and perseverance paid off when Upeshka De Silva, who has been responsible for eliminating most of the final table, came short and busted at third for $198,720; that left Lyons holding a 2 to 1 chip lead facing Benjamin Zamani.
Just eighteen hands later Lyons skilfully leveraged his lead into victory, sending Zamani home with the second place prize of $341,412.
Lyons’ csh bonanza for the win was augmented by a seat in the WPT Tournament of Champions, a Hublot King Power Unico Carbon and Red watch, and a pair of gold Monster 24K headphones
Other final table cashes included:
Todd Peterson $149,715
William Vo $113,105
Rafael Oliveira $85,760
