Canadian poker pro Matthew LaPossie scored his biggest payday yet over the weekend when he took down the World Poker Tour Fallsview Poker Classic at Niagara Falls.
The young Canadian took home the CAD $363,197 first prize after surviving a field of 382 other hopefuls and starting the final table as low-stack man, facing Spiro Mikrogianakis, Jason James, Howie Leung, Josue Sauvageau and the eventual runner-up Dylan Wilkerson.
LaPossie went into the heads up against US player Dylan Wilkerson holding an almost 3 to 1 chip lead and managed to retain the advantage for much of the 22-hand finale, ultimately dispatching Wilkerson in second place for CAD $254,238.
The win takes LaPossie to the WPT Championship event at the Borgata later this year.
