Online poker ace Dan “Jungleman” Cates cleaned up this week on the nosebleed tables at Full Tilt Poker, adding a hefty $486,380 to his account after steamrollering some top quality opposition in 3,600 hands of action.
The High Stakes Data Base site reports that Cates was the biggest winner last week, outshining kagome kagome ($419,489) and Ben “Bttech86” Tollerene ($298,024) and bringing the credit side of his personal ledger up to $750,000 for the year so far.
There was at last good news for Gus “The Great Dane” Hansen, too – he finished the week up $415,488 – a useful offset against his reported career losses in excess of $16 million (see previous reports).
Among the major losers at the end of the week was Alex “PostflopAction” Kostritsyn, in the red to the tune of $571,257, and Hac “trex313” Dang, who lost $364,104.
No report on high stakes poker is complete without a reference to the usually volatile action of Viktor “Isildur1” Blom, but he had an uncharacteristically quiet week, going down just $50,000 instead of his more usual up-and-down hundreds of thousands. Over the year to date he is still in the black by over a million dollars…but watch this space.
