There can be little doubt that the $565 buy-in Colossus competition is the talk of this year’s World Series of Poker, which kicked off its 46th edition in Las Vegas Wednesday.
Friday’s 10 am start of the first of four entry flights for Colossus saw every nook and cranny at the Rio packed with tables full of excited players, with officials speculating that the number of entries is likely to break records and exceed 20,000.
The official numbers won’t be available until the end of the weekend when all buy-ins have been tallied.
The atmosphere is reportedly upbeat, good humoured and enthusiastic, with strong participation by both professional and amateur players despite the crowded conditions.
