In a tough competition against top players in the Euro 10,300 buy-in European Poker Tour High Roller event in Barcelona, US poker pro Conan Drinan bested a field of 571 to claim the Euro 849,200 top prize over the weekend.
When US pro Kyle Keranen bowed out at third for Euro 496,440, Drinan and Latvian pro Mihails Morozovs faced off with pretty much equal chip stacks in the heads up, a battle that was to rage for an hour before Drinan was finally able to put the Latvian away and send him to the exit and a Euro 616,840 runner up pay-day.
Other cashes awarded to the finalists included:
Oleksii Khoroshenin Ukraine Euro 396,700
Ari Engel USA Euro 307,900
Joseph Cheong USA Euro 233,300
Patrick Leonard United Kingdom Euro 169,700
