Congratulations to Spanish pro Rodrigo Espinosa who bested a talented field of 749 other players to clinch the Euro 136,000 first prize in the main event of the Euro 1,100 buy-in United Kingdom and Ireland Poker – Estrellas Poker Tour main event in Marbella this week after five days of tough, competitive action.
The young Spaniard qualified through an online Pokerstars satellite, and survived through the tough field to a five hour final table and a brief but intense heads up against Germany’s Christian Bauer.
Katja Svendsen, another Pokerstars satellite qualifier hailing from Norway, led the final table chip counts as the final eight took their seats, but she managed only a third position finish as the game developed, with Espinosa and Bauer dominating the action.
Holding a chip lead entering the heads up against Bauer, Espinosa made sure there were no slips between cup and lips and demolished his German opponent in just five hands, sending him to the exit and a Euro 82,900 consolation prize.
Other final table earnings looked like this:
Katja Svendsen Euro 58,700
Javier Elorza, Spain Euro 44,450
Gareth Hamilton, Ireland Euro 35,150
Daniel Rodriguez, Spain Euro 26,550
Marcin Barwinski, Poland Euro 19,050
Jake Cody, United Kingdom Euro13,030
