The 49th edition of the prestigious World Series of Poker festival in Las Vegas later this month will include a new innovation designed to capitalise of the booming popularity of eSports.
In a deal with UMG Media, WSOP will bring eSports into the action and excitement in a first for the internationally famed tournament, giving the tens of thousands of poker players and fans who flock to WSOP Las Vegas every year a close up look at a competitive activity that is entertaining millions of mainly younger players around the world at an increasing rate.
InfoPowa readers interested in following the progress of the eSports initiative are urged by UMG to download its app from Google or Apple, which will provide daily updates on competitions around games like Hearthstone, FIFA and Fortnite.
The UMG eSports Stage, will be located on the stage of the main tournament poker room, the Pavilion Room in the Rio Convention Center.
Dave Antony, CEO at UMG said in a press statement this week, “Bringing the UMG Esports Stage into the World Series of Poker events is an amazing next step in continuing this initiative into 2018 and beyond. UMG will utilize its event management app to help organize the event and to constantly update participants of upcoming play and special events at the UMG stage.”
