Finnish live and online poker ace Patrik Antonius, currently resident in Monaco, is contemplating a new poker room business in the principality, according to Poker News.
Antonius has been focusing on cash games in the region, which attracts the rich and famous with its luxury and gambling facilities. He has settled in Monaco with his family and is less enthusiastic about the peripatetic lifestyle of professional poker players who jet around the world seeking big game action.
Antonius told Poker News that he was in late stage talks with unspecified parties regarding a possible poker room in Monaco, saying:
“I can’t share any details yet but if we could get a nice poker room in Europe, that would be good for a lot of people.”
He added that the market is there, because there is a group of players who want to play “decently high stakes” but aren’t interested in much travel.
“It would be very easy to organise good games here,” he said. “People would fly here from all over the world We just have to get proper rake so it’s reasonable.”
