The poker community is abuzz with news that the World Series of Poker (WSOP) 47th Edition 2016 will include a team event for the first time in three decades.
Gregory Chochon, Director, WSOP for Caesars Interactive Entertainment Inc. reportedly unveiled the news during an interview with French radio programme RMC Poker.
According to RMC, the event would comprise two to four players with a buy-in of $1000 in a tag-team format, however, the announcement has yet to be officially released via the usual WSOP channels.
Global Poker League founder and Mediarex Sports and Entertainment chief executive officer Alex Dreyfus took to Twitter saying: “Excited that @WSOP will have $1,000 team event, like a tag-team format, with a bracelet each player/team.
“2016 will be the first year where the concept of team poker will really take off thanks to the power of the WSOP.”
