After besting a field of 514 talented players, German poker pro Dietrich Fast has been declared the winner of the $10,000 buy-in World Poker Tour L.A. Poker Classic.
His reward includes the main prize of $1,000,800, and a $15,000 seat into the WPT Tournament of Champions.
The WSOP bracelet holder faced WPT title-holder Mike Shariati in a long and fiercely contested heads up which started with Shariati at a 4 to 1 chip disadvantage which he gradually eroded, but was unable to stretch into a win over a very skilled and disciplined opponent.
Shariati had to be content with a still-impressive second placing take-home of $650,000.
For winner Fast it was a first seven-figure pay day and a major title to boot – the free Tournament of Champions seat also opens up another high earning opportunity for the German pro.
Other cashes at the final table were:
Alex Keating – $423,890
Sam Soverel – $316,440
Farid Jattin – $238,070
Anthony Spinella – $191,250
