It appears that Golden Nugget has been unable to get its New Jersey free-play online poker site properly established as a precursor to a possible real-money operation (see previous reports). The company informed its players this week that it intends to shutter the site at the end of this (September) month.
Golden Nugget’s original intention was a player-sharing partnership with Betfair Poker NJ, but that operation failed to gain traction, derailing plans for a real-money operation…Betfair Poker NJ folded its cards last year, moving its online casino element across to Golden Nugget.
The free-play action took place originally on the Ongame-Bally Tech platform, but was switched to NYX Gaming earlier this year.
Golden Nugget has now focused its New Jersey online gambling drive solely on casino action.
