Greek professional poker player Georgios Sotiropoulos scored another notable victory over the weekend when he bested a field of 851 to claim the honours and the $308,220 main prize in the $2,200 buy-in Latin American Poker Tour Bahamas main event.
The field included big names like Andre Akkari, Ole Schemion, Jeff Rossiter and Mike Leah, none of whom made the final table.
When the event reached the final table stage, Sotiropoulos still faced a number of accomplished players across the felt, although he held the whip hand with a significant chip advantage. This he immediately leveraged with some aggressive action to start whittling down his opposition.
He was successful in doing this, and entered the heads up against US player Taylor Von Kriegenbergh with a 3 to 1 chip advantage that enabled him to dispatch his last opponent relatively quickly, sending the American home with a second placing check for $187,220.
Other final table cashes included:
Knut Karnapp $132,080
Joe Kuether $99,060
Will Molson $78,080
Chad Eveslage $58,440
Darren Elias $41,100
Ismael Bojang $28,900
