The Heypoker website, along with player emails, conveyed bad news this week…the operation is to close on December 14.
A website notice gave no reasons for the closure but advised:
“Be advised that Heypoker will close down on the 14th of December 2016.
“Please log into your Heypoker account and withdraw any existing funds before the 10th of December 2016.
“We want to welcome you to play at Heypoker’s sister site redbet.com!”
The operator is licensed by the UK Gambling Commission and the Malta Gaming Authority, with the registering company listed as Evoke Gaming Ltd.
“Our poker software is powered by Ongame, the biggest B2B network in the world. Ongame Network Limited has a gaming license for poker issued by the Government of Gibraltar and regulated by the Gibraltar Gambling Commissioner. Third-party service providers that are approved by Ongame can operate under this license,” the website reveals.
Ongame was acquired by the Amaya online gambling group in 2012, and sold to NYX Gaming two years later. Earlier this year NYX advised that the asset had been sold to an unidentified European buyer (see previous reports).
At the time NYX exec Thomas Huw commented that “…a partner with proven experience in the industry will take on all costs, customer contracts and development for the poker product. NYX will retain both a significant share of the new business and exclusive rights to use the poker product across North America.”
According to the independent online poker monitor Pokerscout, Ongame has been in steady decline for some time.
