It’s been a good week at the Full Tilt Poker high stakes tables for Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond, who managed to overcome an expensive downswing in the preceding week (see previous report) into just over a million in profit by late Thursday, leaving him in the red for the year to date by just $70,000.
Taking on top aces like Phil “Polarizing” Ivey, Isildur1, Niki Jedlicka, Patrik “FinndaGrind” Antonius and Alex “PostflopAction” Kostritsyn on the PLO and Mixed Games virtual tables, Galfond hammered the opposition to emerge with an overall profit of almost $1.1 million, around $600,000 on one night’s action alone.
Galfond’s profit numbers dwarfed those of other nosebleed players during the week, the High Stakes Data Base reports; his closest rival was probably Denoking, who won $195,800 from an early 6 max session of $300/$600 NLHE, taking him to a profit of $424,000 so far this week.
There are losers for every winner, and this week it was Viktor “Isildur1” Blom, whose current downswing saw him lose another $320,000, leaving him with just $400,000 for 2014 after earlier this year accumulating $2.2 million in profits. Most of his latest loss went to Alex Kostritsyn.
