US online and live poker pro Byron Kaverman topped cashes in two previous high roller events in Malta this weekend by winning the European Poker Tour Euro 10,300 High Roller competition, besting a field of 209 opponents to claim the Euro 430,800 lion’s share of the Euro 2,037,000 prize pool.
Earlier in the tournament Kaverman finished ninth in the Euro 10,200 Single-Day High Roller and fifth in the Euro 25,750 High Roller, but this one was all his….and secured against a field that included quality players like Mukul Pahuja, Robert Romanello, Bryn Kenney, Kevin MacPhee, Martin Finger, Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, Sylvain Loosli and Jason Mercier.
The win also concluded a successful year for Kaverman, who has earned around $3 million in live tournament events in 2015, with ten six-figure prizes in major competitions, including a WSOP bracelet and $657,351 in the $10,000 Six-Handed No-Limit Hold’em Championship in Las Vegas.
When the final table formed, Kaverman was holding a solid chip lead, but by the heads up stage it was US pro Mukul Pahuja who was in charge, and it took just over one-and-a-half hours for Kaverman to stage a mighty fight-back to level and finally overtake Pahuja and send him home with a second-placing check for Euro 290,100.
Other final table cashed included:
Ikalai Vaskaboinikau Belarus Euro 204,500
Ihar Soika Belarus Euro 165,800
Vladimir Dobrovolskiy Russia Euro 131,180
Robert Romanello UK Euro 99,620
Bryn Kenney USA Euro 72,730
Kevin MacPhee USA Euro 53,150
