A new study has confirmed what other surveys have found in polling Californians – there is widespread support for properly regulated online poker in the state.
The National Research Institute and Survata Inc were commissioned by All In Media to conduct the latest survey, which polled a sample of 1,500 Californians of legal gambling age.
The conclusions show that 66 percent of respondents want the state legislature to pass an online poker bill; 51 percent committed to playing on an online poker site once it is legal in the state; and 71 percent would feel safer playing at a state- licensed online poker room.
The final, and perhaps more esoteric question of the survey, asked players if the availability of legal online poker would negatively impact the frequency with which they visit brick and mortar card rooms and casinos in the state.
In this area, 29 percent responded that they thought this would be the case (this perception has been widely debunked by operational executives in the land industry, who have confirmed that online operations have complement, rather than detract from their land activities).
