In the latest Aussie Millions event – the A$1,150 buy-in No-limit Hold’em Accumulator, local poker pro Bridges Roe prevailed against a field of 721 to claim the main prize of A$160,725, despite starting the final day at the bottom of the chip counts.
It was his second win in the Millions this year – in an earlier event he collected over A$15,300 after a deep run ending in fifth place in a PLO competition..
Several respected live and online poker pros were among the last ten players left standing by the final day, including Jerry Wang and Stephan Jedlicka, but it was Roe and New Zealand player Martin Ward who ended up in the heads up finale.
The Melbourne pro won after a tough contest, leaving Ward with a consolatory runner up prize of A$99,770.
It was Roe’s biggest win yet, almost quadrupling his career live tournament earnings.
