The charming and historic Mediterranean island of Malta is becoming a popular venue for live poker tournaments, with the Pokerstars European Poker Tour the latest to select the island for an event.
EPT has unveiled a 67-tournament schedule titled the EPT Malta Festival that looks set to appeal to a wide range of players, with a slew of special events and cash games available non-stop throughout a veritable festival of poker.
The tournament commences March 18 and runs through March 28, and it will be hosted by the Portomaso Casino in the picturesque surroundings of St. Julian’s.
The schedule includes a Euro 5,300 Main Event and two high-roller events with buy-ins of Euro 25,500 and Euro 10,300. There will also be six “flipout” tournaments and four EPT Stud Championship events, which will feature stud, stud hi-lo, razz, and triple stud tournaments; junior, senior and ladies events have also been planned.
EPT president Ed Stuchly said in a statement announcing the new stop:
“Malta is a great destination for an EPT, and we expect strong participation numbers. After discussions with players and fellow colleagues, we decided it was time to add a fresh and exciting stop to the EPT schedule.”
Rounding off a very full 10 days, the island will also host the 2015 European Poker Awards, the 2015 Global Poker Conference, and the inaugural edition of the Global Poker Masters.
