UKIPT Nottingham’s record-breaking GBP 1 223 000 prize pool was taken by Duncan McLellan following six-days of intense action.
McLellan bested a field of 1 223 becoming UKIPT’s fourth double champion and the first British player to achieve a double win.
Described as the fastest, and possibly most exciting, UKIPT final table ever, McLellan took the honours after three hours forty-nine minutes of play, another for the record books.
Early favourite and chip leader, Scotsman Willie Elliot’s successful bluff early in the tournament against McLellan didn’t work a second time around and ultimately led to his elimination leaving three at the final table.
Following Pearson’s elimination, McLellan went into heads-up with sales director Angelo Milioto, agreeing a deal that would see McLellan take a guaranteed GBP 168,372 and Milioto GBP 143,728 leaving an even GBP 34 000 to play for.
Final payouts finished up:
1 Duncan McLellan, United Kingdom GBP 202,372
