The Latin Series of Poker is hoping that two exhibition baseball games between the Florida Marlins and the New York Yankees in Panama this weekend will boost registrations for its $850 buy-in live poker tournament at the Majestic Casino on March 7.
The company has put up a $1 million guarantee on the prize pool and is already anticipated a record turnout, according to LSOP president Diego Chan.
“We’re excited about the turnout that we’re already seeing down in Panama for our $1 million guaranteed poker tourney,” said Chan earlier this week. “There are hundreds of players looking to take a seat in Day 1, so having the three starting Day 1 events will definitely come in handy.”
Chan says his company has taken a “revolutionary” approach to live tournaments by hosting Day 1 tables across multiple land-based casinos in several countries.
“Instead of forcing players to fly to Panama, spend money on a hotel, and arrange a budget for food – all while risking the chance that they might bust out before Day 2 – the LSOP Millions featured multiple Day 1 events in various cities around the world, taking place several weeks ago in Panama, Costa Rica, Aruba, Colombia, Chile, Peru, and the Dominican Republic, a company statement reveals. Online satellites at well-established internet poker rooms have also been running, offering LSOP Panama packages.
The survivors of these events have secured seats in the Panama starting days and will join local registrants to compete for the big money.
The LSOP Millions schedule also includes a variety of other poker tournaments, including a High Roller Event, multiple PLO and NLH events, and an Open Face Chinese tournament.
