The Red Dragon main event, part of the 2015 Macau Poker Cup, has been won by Chinese businessman Yuguang Li (36), who took home HK$ 1,848,000 (about US$ 238,000) following a two-way chop at the heads up stage of the game.
The event pulled in a field of 987 players, generating a prize pool worth HK$ 10,339,812 (US$1,330,000), with Li’s lion’s share of the pool his greatest reward yet (his biggest personal win previously was $12,421 for a fifth place finish in an APPT tournament).
When the action reached the heads up stage Li and Chinese player Yunye Lu negotiated a two-way chop before going at it in a fiercely competitive exchange from which Li eventually emerged victorious, sending his tough opponent home with a worthwhile second placing prize of HK$1,645,000.
