One of the most financially successful and popular players in international poker, Daniel Negreanu, has joined the instructor’s roster on the MasterClass project, an online learning facility where the public can access the expertise of globally successful individuals like film director Martin Scorsese, singer Christina Aguilera and celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.
Negreanu holds six prestigious World Series of Poker winner bracelets and has accumulated earnings in excess of $30 million in a glittering career both online and in live tourneys.
He revealed in an announcement this week that he had been approached by MasterClass to provide online tuition in poker. He said that although there were other poker tuition sites, the top MasterClass quality in production and instructors was appealing, and he saw it as an opportunity to expand the game to a wider audience through its mainstream nature.
However, he cautioned those who do not know how to play poker that his courses may be too advanced for them. His target audience appears to be intermediate or struggling players who already have an understanding of the fundamentals of the game and seek improvement.
The Negreanu course initially includes seven sessions on tournament strategy and spotting tells, and then develops to 33 or more learning sessions covering topics such as cash and online play. Students are provided with a downloadable class workbook and have the opportunity discuss issues and ideas with Negreanu.
