One of international poker’s top players and ambassadors, Daniel KidPoker Negreanu, is the subject of a new full length feature film which is now available via Netflix in the UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, online poker provider PokerStars has announced.

KidPoker, a PokerStars Original Films documentary, chronicles the life and career of one of the world’s greatest – and most outspoken – poker players, taking viewers on a revealing personal journey.

It begins with Negreanu’s childhood in Canada, through his pool-hustling days in Toronto, and then his emergence in the high stakes poker scene in Las Vegas when he became, at 23, the youngest player to win a World Series of Poker Series bracelet. The victory earned him his nickname ‘Kid Poker’.

The film also charts his ongoing rise in the poker world, from becoming a regular at the biggest and richest games in the world to his success in televised events, as viewers witness his evolution from a kid with a dream to a superstar with more than $32 million in live tournament winnings – the most of any player ever.

Netflix viewers around the world can expect to get a real insight into the world of high stakes poker, including the mindset needed to make stone-cold bluffs with millions of dollars on the line. KidPoker has previously been screened in media previews and on Canadian TV where it received considerable acclaim.

Negreanu said: “This is a story of clear intention and determination, in that the odds were stacked against me, especially in the early years. I want this to be an inspirational film, so that when people watch it, they feel they can get back on the horse and pursue their dreams too.”

KidPoker focuses on the support Negreanu received from his fans, friends and family throughout his career, most significantly the close relationship he had with his late mother.

It also focuses on his career highlights, like his inclusion into the Poker Hall of Fame, and winning six World Series of Poker bracelets and two World Poker Tour titles. With a mix of personal stories and appearances from some of the world’s top poker personalities such as Vanessa Selbst, Phil Ivey and Antonio Esfandiari, the film is an essential documentary feature for sports fans and champions of the ‘underdog’.
