The World Series of Poker is to achieve further brand awareness in New Jersey following the announcement Saturday that the brand’s online poker platform WSOP.com is to host a new competition in which New Jersey mayors play for charity.
WSOP.com will host its inaugural New Jersey Mayor’s Poker Tournament on May 22 as part of the week-long World Series of Poker National Championship festivities in the WSOP-branded Bally’s Poker Room in Atlantic City.
The competition will be a winner-takes-all NLHE challenge, played on computers before a live audience, with the winner donating the $10,000 first prize to a local charity of his or her choice.
To ensure a reasonably level playing field, WSOP.com has offered participating mayors a free one-hour tuition session with a top professional player before the event.
