Without official release information, 888Poker inadvertently introduced a new game to its real-money lobby this week, triggering speculation that it was to either test reaction or tease for the main launch.
Or was it a technical screw-up that resulted in its appearance in error?
Branded Flopomania, the game created a stir in player circles, but it was removed after mere hours of exposure, with the company offering an explanation that there was a “technical incident” which resulted in the “accidental release” of the game in its final testing stages.
The official release is scheduled “in the coming weeks” the company said.
Poker News reports on the accidental premature launch suggest that Flopomania is a NLHE variant that removes all pre-flop betting and moves straight to the flop.
Players initiate action with a bet for a predetermined amount , and each player is dealt two cards. The difference between this game and traditional no limit hold’em apparently comes in here; there is no round of betting before the flop, which is immediately dealt. Thereafter players still in contention will see a turn followed by another round of betting, a river and then a final round of betting.
