Canny investor and global boxing legend Floyd Mayweather surfaced this week as the front man for a social poker product from the Israeli studios of Playtrex, marketed by Hero Digital titled Wild Poker.
The game has actually been knocking around for a year, but the involvement of Mayweather will no doubt revitalise in-game sales on the free-to-play, Texas Hold’em based social poker game.
Interestingly, Playtrex has added a video gaming style ‘power up element’, although players can also buy virtual points.
Mayweather has reportedly been rewarded handsomely for promoting Wild Poker, in which he stars as presenter and an integral character, introducing new hands and offering tips on successful game play, and playing.
In a press release this week Mayweather said:
“I’m constantly asked to put my name on stuff, but Wild Poker is different than any game I’ve ever seen. It’s poker, but it goes to the next level. There’s a whole new level of strategy with the power ups. It’s a cutting edge game, this is that next thing, and like everything I put my name on, Wild Poker is the best ever.”
Features designed to increase the strategy and adventure appeal of Wild Poker include real-time decision-making, power-ups and journey and character development, while strategically deployed special skills give players the ability to ‘embrace the spirit of their favorite animal characters.’
Playtrex CEO Daniel Kashmir explained: “Our mission with Wild Poker is to evolve the social casino genre to make it more fun and appealing to all types of players. By adding Floyd as a presenter within the game, it shows that we are committed to providing game experiences that can’t be found in any other social casino game.”
