Guy Laliberte’s inspiring Big One for One Drop poker tournament (a percentage of the buy-ins goes to aid clean water projects in developing nations) this year looks set to be one of the biggest yet, with 50 firm seat reservations already made at Euro 111,111 each.
Players are required make a non-refundable deposit of Euro 11,000 to reserve a seat in the Euro 10 million guaranteed event, which has an entry cap of 111 players..
The poker spectacular with a heart wll take place in Rozvadov, Czech Republic later this year and will be hosted by King’s Casino, according to a report from the World Series of Poker Europe, which is to invest $20 million in its European activities this year.
Among those who have already signed up are respected names like Phil Hellmuth, Tony G, Rob Yong, previous winner Antonio Esfandiari, Fedor Holz, Patrik Antonius, Bertrand ‘Elky’ Grospellier, Daniel ‘Jungleman’ Cates, Sam Trickett, Phil Ivey, Rainer Kempe and Pierre Neuville.
The Rozvadov Big One for One Drop will also feature a Euro 1,100 buy-in Little One for One Drop to attract less affluent players and raise more cash for the charity.
One Drop has raised over $18,500,000 since 2012 to fund water access projects worldwide. Hoping to hit the $20,000,000 milestone this year, tournament organisers will continue to contribute to water access, sanitation and hygiene causes.
Already, the initiatives have positively affected nearly 200,000 people in India, West Africa and Latin America, according to a joint release from WSOP and King’s Casino.
