US grinder Nick Kost scored his biggest career win yet, and his first World Series of Poker bracelet when he took down event 14, a $1,500 buy-in Limit Omaha Hi Low Split 8 or Better competition to claim the first prize of $283,275 in Las Vegas Friday.
1,036 players entered for the event, generating a prize pool worth $1.39 million which attracted a number of recognisable names like Greg Raymer, Alex Luneau, Calen McNeil, Chris Tryba and Frank O’Dell.
Jim Bucci’s departure in third place for $109,678 set the scene for the heads up, which lasted for two-and-a-half-hours and saw Kal Raichura pitted against Kost and holding a 3 to 1 advantage.
However Kost showed both spirit and discipline in fighting back to take the lead and eventually claim the game, leaving Raichura with a second placing prize of $175,300.
