In an effort to graphically illustrate that poker is a game where skill really counts more than luck, a Norwegian professional player has issued a $170,000 (NKR 1 million) challenge to a heads up game, and a local politician has accepted.
In a challenge that smacks of a publicity initiative, professional player and PLO specialist Ola “Odd Oddsen” Amundsrud and local Progress Party politician Erlend Wiborg will come together to illustrate the obvious to Norwegian lawmakers.
The contest may have to take place outside Norwegian borders, however, because the game is currently illegal in Norway, although legislators are talking about a more liberal approach supported by strict regulation (and probably taxation).
Wiborg, who is already a supporter of legalised poker, says that he is keen to discuss legalisation with professionals like Amundsrud.
A date and venue for the match is yet to be set.
