Caesars Interactive Entertainment has scored a high profile sports deal, allying its WSOP.com online poker brand operating in New Jersey with the New York Rangers, a National Hockey League team.
The agreement has already resulted in the first in a series of linked promotions through which WSOP.com players are given an opportunity to win prizes that include a visit to their home of a NY Rangers star player, along with cash prizes, tickets to big games and special rewards of Rangers autographed memorabilia.
The sports agreement is not the first of its type in the nascent US online poker market; earlier this year NJ.Party Poker.com, in which the European betting group Bwin.Party has an interest, inked promotional deals with the National Basketball Association’s Philadelphia 76ers and the New Jersey Devils (see previous reports).
