Party Poker’s major live tournament in Sochi, one of Russia’s legal gambling enclaves, has reached its final day (March 27) with just 16 players left, led by Roman Korenev on 21 million chips, comfortably ahead of closest rival Dmitriy Chop (16,500,000).
1,170 entrants for the live and online event paid the $1,100 buy-in to push the prize pool beyond the $1 million guarantee, driving the winner’s share up to $225,000.
The Party Poker Million Sochi main event is a deep-stacked competition with players starting off with 100,000 chips with blinds at 250/500 with an ante of 50. The first of the five opening days of the Main Event took place online at Party Poker on March 12 and 19. The remaining three opening days unfolded at the casino between March 23-25, with the main event running between March 26 and 27.
When InfoPowa went to press Monday morning just 16 players were left, with blinds at 125,000/250,000 ante 25,000, and average stacks at 7,312,500 (29 big blinds).
